From the best grapes, comes the best wines ...

Hunter Valley

Put simply, the Hunter Valley is the birthplace of Australian wine with vineyards dating back to the 1860’s still in production, some of the oldest vine stock in the world. The warm and humid climate combined with red clay loam soils of the region is unique in Australian wine and produce some of Australia’s most famous Shiraz. The Hunter was one of the first regions in Australia to grow Chardonnay, Hunter Valley Chardonnay helped to grow the variety into an Australian icon. The most widely planted grape varieties in the Hunter Valley, in descending order, are Chardonnay, Semillon and Verdelho among the whites and Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot among the reds.

Tumbarumba

Tumbarumba is halfway between Sydney and Melbourne and lies in the western foothills of the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales, hence a cool climate wine growing region. The wine industry was first established in the 1982 and is regarded as one of the newest wine producing regions in New South Wales. Currently there are more than 25 vineyards in the region which may be a little lower (ranging as they do from 300 to 800 metres) but are unequivocally part of the Snowy Mountains. Tumbarumba's signature wines are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for sparkling and table wines. In recent years the newer plantings include Merlot, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Shiraz and Viognier. The latter varieties helped by the warm dry seasons experienced in the region.

Hilltops

The Hilltops wine region is located just over an hour north-west of Canberra around the town of Young in southern New South Wales. It is part of the Murray-Darling Basin and includes the shires of Boorowa, Harden and Young. The area is familiar with growing bright summer fruits, and their vineyards are no exception. This region may sit under the radar, but it’s not one to overlook. It is renowned for its cool-climate wines, including award-winning reds.
